Files and privacy
Is my file uploaded?
No. The DXF is read, parsed, split and written entirely in your browser, on your machine. No geometry is transmitted to us at any point.
So nothing at all goes to your server?
DXF Splitter is a web application: it loads its code from us, it checks your account and what your plan allows, and if you generate a parts report we build it on our side from a table of measurements. What never goes to our server is the drawing itself.
How can I be sure?
Open your browser's developer tools, go to the network tab, and split a file. You'll see the application load and the account check. You won't see a file upload. We'd rather you checked than took our word for it. (You can also tell by the speed - it's blisteringly fast!)
Do you store my drawings?
No. There is no file storage in the DXF Splitter.
Can I use this on work under NDA or export control?
That's your call and your compliance team's, not ours - but the technical fact is that your geometry never leaves your machine, which is usually the point on which online tools get ruled out. Several will happily tell you that their processing is server-side; ours isn't.
Does it work offline?
No. You need a connection to sign in and to load the application, the same as any web app. The splitting itself runs on your machine, but that isn't the same thing as running offline, and we'd rather be precise about it now than have you find out at an awkward moment.
The files themselves
What DXF versions do you support?
R12 onwards, ASCII and binary.
What about DWG?
Not currently. Export a DXF from your CAD package.
What entities are handled?
Lines, arcs, circles, polylines, splines, ellipses, text and blocks.
How big a file can it handle?
There's no 'upload limit' because there's no upload. The practical limit is your machine's memory, and nests of several thousand entities are comfortable on an ordinary laptop.
What if it groups parts wrongly?
You'll see it in the preview before exporting, and you can group parts manually. Shared cut lines and overlapping parts are the usual cause.
Does it change my geometry?
No. Entities are copied into new files unmodified, optionally translated to a new origin. Nothing is re-fitted, approximated or converted.
Using it
Do I need to install anything?
No. It's a browser tab.
Which browsers?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
Do you nest?
No. DXF Splitter goes the other way. If you need nesting, JETCAM Expert is the way to go.
Account and billing
What does free include?
One nest of up to 100 parts, with the full preview, detection and export. Once you've split and downloaded one nest, you can still preview nests to see what will split - you just won't be able to export anything.
What does Pro cost?
€99 a month, or €999 a year - which works out at €83.25 a month and saves you €189 over paying monthly. There's also a €39 day pass if you only need it occasionally.
How do I cancel?
From your account, monthly, effective at the end of the period you've paid for.
